Early American Log Cabin This is a house built of unfinished logs. The first extensive use of the log cabin in America was by the Swedish immigrants. There are two basic types of log cabins. One is built with round logs like the traditional Lincoln cabin and the other is built with squared off logs. Features include shingle-covered gable roofs and chimneys located at the ends.
